On March 31, 2026, Texas State Senator Bryan Hughes sent a letter to the Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton requesting he provide an opinion on the legality of copay maximizers and alternative funding programs (AFPs). The letter urges Attorney General Paxton to publish an opinion on how AFPs and maximizers are consistent with existing state and federal consumer protection laws. In support of this request, Aimed Alliance and several other patient advocacy’s groups sent a letter to Attorney General Paxton urging his office to swiftly publish an opinion. Advocates also thanked Texas State Senator Bryan Hughes for his leadership on this issue. Read the letter to Senator Hughes here.
