On July 14, 2026, Aimed Alliance submitted a comment to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in response to Request for Information CMS-9874-NC, which seeks input on current interpretations of essential health benefits (EHB) requirements. In its comment, Aimed Alliance urged HHS and CMS to strengthen consumer protections related to EHBs, particularly prescription drug coverage and annual limits on cost-sharing. The letter highlighted concerns regarding copay maximizers, prior authorization, step therapy, and alternative funding programs (AFPs), noting that these practices can increase patient costs and delay access to medically necessary treatment. Aimed Alliance also called for greater transparency and reporting requirements, including public reporting on utilization management, claim denials, and appeals, to help assess the impact of EHB policies on access and affordability.
