Step Therapy Reform: Categorical Exceptions

In 2022, Senator Breslin introduced S8193 and Assemblyman McDonald introduced A9250 which would prohibit the use of step therapy policies in dermatology, gastroenterology, hematology, neurology, rheumatology, oncology, and ophthalmology. Prohibiting step-therapy for these therapeutic categories will help prevent serious disease progression and encourage optimal health outcomes in patients that might otherwise be limited by step-therapy policies.
