Aimed Alliance submitted comments in response to Senator Ron Wyden’s “Health Coverage That Works for Everyone” initiative, urging Congress to strengthen consumer protections and improve access to affordable, patient-centered care. Among its recommendations, Aimed Alliance called for enforcement of the federal prohibition on copay accumulator programs, greater transparency regarding utilization management requirements and third-party programs during open enrollment, and enhanced reporting on claim denials, appeals, prior authorization, and step therapy practices. The letter also urged Congress to address the growing use of alternative funding programs (AFPs) and recommended comprehensive pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reform, including measures to address spread pricing, rebate-driven formulary design, and vertical integration within the health care system.
