Patients Must Investigate Whether Their Outpatient Office is Designated as a Provider or Hospital-Based Location

Hospital surgery corridorOfficials from both the Pennsylvania Insurance Department and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General encourage patients to investigate whether their outpatient office is designated as a provider or hospital-based location. By law, hospitals must notify patients they are entering a provider-based facility. However, the law does not set standards regarding how that notification is provided or require hospitals to post the amount of the fee. Read more here.
