Ky. State Sen. Offers Health Exchange Expertise to Other States

Kentucky State Senator Ralph Alvarado wants to market his state’s successful health care exchange program Kynect to other states for a fee. Using the profits the state makes, Alvarado hopes to expand Medicaid throughout Kentucky, which is estimated to cost $1.1 billion over the next six years. Speaking on his ideas, Senator Alvarado says, “It will provide our neighbors who want state exchanges a service that they want, and it would give our taxpayers a break from having to foot that bill in the future.” Though this plan is still in the discovery phase, Aimed Alliance supports his initiative idea to expand Medicaid and to assist other states in setting up their own functional health care exchanges.
