On March 18, 2024, President Biden signed an Executive Order that accelerates research and funding efforts to advance women’s health. The Order focuses on integrating and prioritizing women’s health across various federal agencies’ research portfolios and budgets. Key directives include instructing the Department of Health and Human Services to expand data collection efforts related to women’s midlife health; launch a comprehensive research agenda for menopause-related research; improve the management of menopause-related issues and clinical care; and develop resources to educate women about menopause symptoms and treatment options. Additionally, it mandates the Office of Management and Budget and the Gender Policy Council identify gaps in federal funding for women’s health research and propose necessary changes based on their findings.
