A new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study reports that deaths stemming from the hepatitis C virus infection (HCV) continue to rise in the United States. Even though Hepatitis C medications now exist that cure the disease in 90 percent of patients who take it, insurers are placing overly restrictive cost-containment barriers on the treatments, thereby preventing patients from accessing them.
