Aimed Alliance Says Medicare Part B Demo Violates the ACA

CMS logoToday, Aimed Alliance called on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to scrap their new Medicare Part B Drug Payment Model (Part B Demo) because it is in violation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The Part B Demo would lead to significantly lower reimbursement rates for certain medications and cause harm to cancer patients, likely disrupting their access to care and increasing cost sharing. Aimed Alliance’s Director of Public Policy, Stacey L. Worthy, notes that the Part B Demo will encourage providers to prescribe cheaper, less effective medications at the expense of elderly cancer patients who deserve quality care. For these reasons, Aimed Alliance has urged CMS not to proceed with the implementation of the Part B Demo. You can read more here.
