In 2021, CVS Caremark intends to exclude coverage of four antidepressants known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) from its formularies. The effects of a CVS formulary change could be dire and life-threatening for depression patients who could lose access to their SSRI treatment. It could even put patients at increased risk of suicide – during some of the darkest days of the year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
