The Massachusetts Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program, known as MassHealth, announced that effective November 1, 2021, MassHealth would begin covering prescription digital therapeutics (PDTs). PDTs are considered a new category of therapeutics that are evidence-based medical interventions using software that can be accessed on a tablet or smartphone to prevent, manage, or treat a range of diseases and disorders. Aimed Alliance currently leads ACTION for PDTs, a multi-disciplinary partnership that works to expand the adoption of, coverage of, and access to PDTs for individuals with chronic diseases. MassHealth’s new drug list that includes PDTs can be found here.
