Aimed Alliance’s paper, entitled “Institutional Health Care Rationing Ignores Patients, Undermines Progress, and Leads to Deterioration of Care,” was cited in a Huffington Post Healthy Living blog piece authored by Michael D. Shaw. The blog post considers examples from Aimed Alliance’s paper demonstrating how the actions of insurers and pharmacy benefit managers undermine patients’ access to treatments while increasing health care costs. Mr. Shaw argues that power must be restored to patients and physicians; otherwise, institutions will continue to make poor decisions for the wrong reasons.
