Aimed Alliance has released two new resources, one for consumers and one for employers, examining the growing use of alternative funding programs (AFPs) that require patients to obtain prescription drugs through international importation pathways. The resources highlight Aimed Alliance’s FDA Citizen Petition and the agency’s acknowledgment of significant legal and patient safety concerns associated with AFPs, including that most personal importation is unlawful and that AFP are not permitted to import drugs on behalf of patients. They also outline the risks associated with unverified foreign supply chains and ongoing regulatory uncertainty, providing key information for consumers and employers navigating these practices.
