Aimed Alliance Supports Every Dollar Counts Act While Emphasizing Need for Clarifying Amendment

On May 11, Aimed Alliance sent a letter expressing support for H.R. 8270, the Every Dollar Counts Act, which would require patients’ out-of-pocket spending on covered prescription drugs to count toward their deductible and maximum out-of-pocket limit, regardless of the purchasing channel. The letter highlights a current gap in which purchases made through direct-to-patient platforms, including initiatives like TrumpRx, often do not count toward these limits, effectively forcing patients to “pay twice.” Notably, Aimed Alliance emphasized the need for a clarifying amendment to ensure the requirement applies only to FDA-approved drugs dispensed by licensed U.S. pharmacies. This safeguard would help ensure the legislation achieves its intended goal of protecting patients from duplicative costs without incentivizing the mandated use of unregulated or international drug purchasing channels.
