CMS Proposes No-Cost Hepatitis B Vaccinations for Medicare Beneficiaries

In the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed offering consumers no-cost hepatitis B vaccinations for individuals who have not completed a hepatitis B vaccination series or whose vaccination history is unknown. Hepatitis B is a vaccine-preventable communicable disease of the liver. If finalized, the proposal would eliminate the requirement for a physician’s order to administer the hepatitis B vaccine under Part B, simplifying roster billing for mass immunizers.
