Center for U.S. Policy Provides Recommendations to ISUDCC on Improving Federal Coordination of Substance Use Disorder Treatment

On December 9, 2021, ACTION for PDTs’ stakeholder group member, the Center for U.S. Policy (CUSP), presented at the Interdepartmental Substance Use Disorders Coordinating Committee (ISUDCC) meeting. CUSP provided recommendations for improving the federal coordination of substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, intervention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery support programs and services. Among the many recommendations, CUSP encouraged the ISUDCC to expand Medicare and Medicaid benefits to cover prescription digital therapeutics (PDTs). CUSP explained that PDTs are evidence-based interventions that can be accessed anywhere a patient has a tablet or smartphone. Thus, PDT treatments can reach patients when and where they need support – a critical tool in SUD treatment and recovery support. CUSP’s full list of recommendations can be found here.
