Consumers Should Beware of Skinny Health Care Plans

0

As open enrollment begins, it is important to avoid so-called “skinny health care plans,” which are plans that offer lower premiums but fail to provide coverage of key services, such as hospital care. A comprehensive plan offering substantial hospital coverage may cap out-of-pocket costs at $7,000, whereas with a skinny plan, there may be no cap at all, leading to extremely high hospital bills. More comprehensive health care plans  may, therefore, save consumers money in the long-run.
