Aimed Alliance Supports Minnesota Bill to Protect Access to Mental Health Medications

0

Aimed Alliance sent a letter to the Minnesota Health and Human Services Committee in support of Senate Bill 2392, which seeks to prohibit the use of utilization management tools, such as prior authorization and step therapy, for certain central nervous system medications used to treat serious mental illnesses (SMIs) including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. These restrictive policies often delay access to essential treatments, undermining the individualized care necessary for managing SMIs and putting patients at risk of worsened symptoms, emergency crises, and hospitalization. The bill would remove these harmful barriers and ensure that patients promptly receive the medications their healthcare providers deem most appropriate. Read the letter here.
