On Aug. 11, 2023, Aimed Alliance released a new Easy-Read Know Your Rights brochure for patients with Movement Disorders. An “Easy Read” resource combines text with layout and imagery to simplify and explain information. Easy Read is a way to present information for people who are not familiar with English, or who have low literacy or learning disabilities. A movement disorder Movement disorders are a group of neurologic conditions characterized by altered coordination of movements, including increased, slow, or reduced movements. This new brochure provides an overview of movement disorder diagnosis and treatments. In addition, the resource explains how health insurers’ policies that can delay consumers ability to access their medications, and provides information for patients on how to appeal an adverse benefit determination from their health plan.
