Aimed Alliance, the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation and the Hemophilia Alliance, released a new resource, “Protecting Consumers from Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices,” to help regulators and legislators protect consumers from a business practice known as “alternative funding programs” (AFPs). The resource details how AFPs mislead employees, patients, employers, and patient assistance programs; the harm these practices cause consumers, including dangerous delays in care, limited access to treatments, unaffordable cost-sharing, and exposure to illegally sourced medications. The resource also outlines actionable steps policymakers can take using unfair and deceptive trade practice laws to safeguard consumers and promote transparency in healthcare. View the resource.
