S2180 Brings Meaningful Access for Behavioral Care Patients in NJ

0

New Jersey Senate Bill S2180 could result in meaningful access for patients in behavioral care. The legislation would no longer allow managed care organizations to apply utilization management practices. If passed, it would be the first statute to require insurers to cover treatment without prior approval or fail-first protocols. An insurer would have to cover residential treatment, as prescribed by the practitioner, automatically, for example. S2180 passed the New Jersey Senate Commerce Committee with a vote of 4-to-2, but it is still in its early phases. To read more about the S2180’s creation and journey, click here.
