Senate Bill 0661, designed to keep hepatitis C under control in Illinois, has passed the general assembly and would require doctors to offer hepatitis C blood test to patients born between 1945 and 1965. Baby boomers encompass the largest demographic of people with hepatitis C, and often times, they show no symptoms. The legislation would aid in identifying the illness and preventing it from spreading. The bill is currently waiting for the governor’s signature.
