On July 20, 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a statement cautioning any reliance on nine FTC advocacy letters released between 2004 and 2014. The FTC voted to issue this statement as the previous letters may no longer reflect the current PBM industry. In response to the FTC issuing this statement, the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) stated it would continue to cite previous FTC studies, statements, and enforcement actions, despite the FTC’s warnings.
