Connecticut Issues Executive Order To Prevent Surprise Billing During COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

On April 5, 2020, Connecticut Governor issued an executive order to ban surprise out-of-network medical bills, effective immediately and for the duration of the COVID-19 public health emergency.  The order also states that if a patient receives emergency services from an out-of-network provider, that provider will be paid the in-network rate for that service. Finally, the order protects uninsured patients from receiving any bill that is greater than the Medicare rate for the services they received. Read more here.
