The Governor of California signed a bill, approved by the California legislature, to allow HIV-positive people to donate organs to others who are HIV-positive. The San Francisco surgeon who, with two seriously ill patients waiting for a new liver, spoke to lawmakers asking for this change stated that “not only will this law help those on organ transplant waiting lists with HIV, it will also mean something to those without HIV because for every donor added, somebody benefits.” Read more here.
