Aimed Alliance Sends Letter of Support for Copay Accumulator Ban in California

0

On May 8, 2024, Aimed Alliance sent a letter to California Appropriations Committee in support of Assembly Bill 2180 – Ensuring Equitable Copay Practices in California, which aims to ban copay accumulator policies. Copay accumulator policies exclude the value of financial assistance from third parties from counting towards a patient’s deductible or maximum out-of-pocket limit. This often results in patients paying thousands of dollars extra for their medications, causing financial strain and potentially forcing them to forgo or delay treatment. AB 2180 would mandate that all copay assistance contributes towards patients’ cost-sharing requirements, ensuring continued access to essential medications without undue financial burden.  Read Aimed Alliance’s letter here.
