Aimed Alliance Supports Missouri Copay Accumulator Ban

On January 22, 2025, Aimed Alliance submitted a letter to the Families, Seniors, and Health Committee in support of Senate Bill 45, which seeks to prohibit copay accumulator policies in Missouri. The letter highlights the significant concerns associated with these programs, emphasizing that they can lead to disease progression, relapse, and other adverse health events, ultimately increasing healthcare utilization.

SB 45 would require all health plans and pharmacy benefit managers to apply copay assistance toward a patient’s deductible and annual cost-sharing obligations when no generic alternative is available. By implementing this measure, the bill would help protect patients, particularly those with complex, rare, and chronic conditions, by ensuring that they can access necessary medications and adhere to their prescribed treatment plans. Therefore, Aimed Alliance strongly urged the Missouri legislature to pass SB 45 and safeguard patients from the financial and health risks posed by copay accumulator programs. Read the letter here.
