Consumer Watchdog has filed a class-action lawsuit in South Florida federal court against an insurer, alleging one of their new policies actively discriminates against people with HIV and AIDS. The consumer advocacy group claims the insurer’s policy requires people with HIV or AIDS to get their medications directly from their mail-order pharmacy. This policy could result in private packages being seen by others or shipped to the wrong address, and would prevent patients from personally interacting with a pharmacist. By making it difficult to obtain medications, Consumer Watchdog also argues this insurer policy violates the Affordable Care Act. Get more specifics about the policy and lawsuit by heading here.
