Aimed Alliance Urges Opposition to Louisiana PDAB Bill, Citing Limited Patient Benefits

0

On May 11, Aimed Alliance sent a letter urging opposition to Louisiana S.B. 401, which would establish a Prescription Drug Affordability Board (PDAB), expressing concerns about cost, effectiveness, and patient impact. Drawing on experiences in other states, the letter emphasizes that PDABs require substantial investment while delivering no measurable savings for patients. Moreover, the letter cautioned against expanding the Board’s authority to set upper payment limits (UPLs) or Medicare-based caps, noting the structural challenges with price-setting frameworks, such as limited patient engagement and lack of transparency. Instead, Aimed Alliance recommended alternative reforms, such as improving transparency and accountability in pharmacy benefit manager practices, to more directly lower patient costs.
