In a recent Kalorama report entitled Out-of-Pocket Healthcare Expenditures in the United States, findings indicate that the amount Americans spend on out-of-pocket health care costs reached $416 billion in 2014. With a growth of 8%, this figure could grow to $608 billion by 2019. Out-of-pocket health care costs fall into three categories: 1) premiums, 2) direct expenditures, and 3) co-pays.
