In New Hampshire, state retirees under the age of 65 will have to pay 17.5 percent more in monthly premiums in 2016—5 percent more than their fellow retirees. The increase results in a difference of approximately $42 per month. Lawmakers justify the change by claiming that the increase helps to offset the need for additional increases in other areas of the retirees’ health plans.
