Oral Parity Legislation Becomes Law in ND

Receiving strong support from organizations, such as the Cancer Action Network of North Dakota and the American Cancer Society, HB 1072 passed the state’s legislature and was signed by Governor Jack Dalrymple. The bill aims to cover oral anti-cancer medications in the same manner as intravenous or infused chemotherapy, otherwise known as oral parity, thereby limiting patient costs for these effective treatments. In North Dakota, orally-administered cancer treatments require high out-of-pocket costs for patients. The new law will give cancer patients more affordable access to oral treatments that are “based on what their oncologist has recommended rather than price.” Aimed Alliance applauds the efforts of Representative Andrew Maragos and others sponsoring this bill and looks forward to seeing the positive affect it has on North Dakota’s cancer patients.
