Insurer Denies Young Epilepsy Patient’s Brain Surgery

Aetna denied a minimally invasive brain surgery procedure to a 15-year-old epilepsy patient, claiming it was too “experimental.” Practitioners disagree and state that is it safer than alternative procedures.
