According to the report, traditional Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Part D reported an estimated $51.1 billion in improper payments in 2023. Medicaid closely followed, with an improper payment expenditure of approximately $50 billion. The report found that improper payments in Medicare Advantage increased by $4.3 billion, while Medicare Part D’s improper payments increased by $2 billion in 2023.
