Drug Pricing

Forty-four percent of all Americans take at least one prescription medication, and 17 percent take 3 or more medications. As drug prices continue to rise, it is important to ensure that out-of-pocket costs are not prohibitive and that prices reflect a medication’s value. Health care stakeholders are attempting to address the rising costs of prescription drugs using a variety of strategies. Successful strategies to reduce prescription drugs prices must be implemented in a way that reduces costs and also do not significantly slow the development of new medications.
