The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule, stating that Medicaid plans must strictly comply with the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008. This rule means that Medicaid plans may not place limitations on mental health or substance use treatment services that are more restrictive than those placed on medical and surgical benefits.
