North Carolina State flag waving in the windNorth Carolina lawmakers are investigating insurers’ “fail first” policies, a common practice in which patients are required to first try and fail on an inferior, but cheaper, treatment before having access to the treatment prescribed to them. Fail-first protocols cause unnecessary delays in cancer patients’ treatment.
