Aimed Alliance Urges CT Governor to Consider PDAB Alternatives

0

On August 27, 2024, Aimed Alliance sent Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont a letter urging the Governor to consider alternatives to establishing a prescription drug affordability board (PDAB) in Connecticut, focusing on solutions that directly improve consumer access and affordability.

The letter raises concerns that PDABs are experimental, lack guaranteed savings for consumers, and may lead to reduced access and increased healthcare costs due to utilization management tactics. Furthermore, it urges alternatives to PDABs, like strengthening step therapy regulations and reforming prior authorization processes to improve patient outcomes and reduce costs. Lastly, if PDAB legislation is pursued in 2025 the letter emphasizes the importance of ensuring consumer representation on the board, maintaining continuous stakeholder engagement, and require that savings from pricing caps directly benefit consumers.
